Today's creative challenge, CAPTION THIS!
Check out this amazing picture of a Bighorn Sheep that Marc Zebell snapped right here in the White Mountains! It looks like he's trying to say something, doesn't it? Here are five interesting facts I found about about bighorn sheep in this region:
The White Mountains of Arizona are home to the largest herd of Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep in the state, with an estimated population of around 800 individuals.
Male bighorn sheep, or rams, can weigh up to 300 pounds and have a set of massive, curling horns that can grow up to three feet in length!
Rams in the White Mountains have to be tough to survive in the harsh, high-elevation environment. They have specialized hooves that help them grip steep rock faces, and they can go without water for days at a time.
During mating season, male bighorn sheep compete for dominance by charging and butting heads with each other at high speeds. The sound of their horns colliding can be heard from over a mile away!
Despite their tough exterior, bighorn sheep are actually quite sensitive to disturbance from humans and other animals. If you're lucky enough to spot a ram like this one, make sure to give it plenty of space and observe from a safe distance.
So there you have it! Rams in the White Mountains are pretty amazing creatures. And who knows, maybe this one really was trying to tell us something... or maybe he just wanted to show off h#azwhitemountains #bighornsheepn#naturephotographyp#ramtalkP#WildlifeEncounters #WildlifeEncounters

Hey everyone! Have you ever taken a moment to appreciate the beauty of icicles? They may be the only thing keeping us from hating winter altogether! Just kidding...kind of.
But seriously, these natural wonders are not only visually stunning, but also fascinating in their formation. It's like watching art being created by mother nature herself. And if you're lucky, you might even get a "shower" from an icicle that's had enough of hanging around. How long are your icicles? The longest recorded icicle was over 82 feet long!
So let's all take a moment to appreciate the icy beauty of icicles, but also be mindful of where we stand when we're walking under them. Stay warm and stay safe with the new snow coming! ❄️
Special thanks to Steve Jones for this creative shot that he posted on Photos Of The Arizona White Mountains!

Who's excited for more snow? It's time to break out the hot cocoa, cozy blankets, and snow gear! Just remember to take precautions while driving, walking, and playing in the snow... unless you're a professional snowman builder, then do your thing! Only 36 more days until spring is here, but let's enjoy the winter wonderland while it lasts. And don't forget to share your snowy photos over the next few days on Photos Of The Arizona White Mountains. We want to see those snowman creations, snowball fights, and all your winter adventures. Stay warm and make some memories! 🌲❄️ #SnowDay #StaySafe #WinterWonderland #SpringIsComing #SnowmanGoals 📷.
Special thanks to Jennifer Velasquez for this amazing photo she shared with us!

Stunning
What a beautiful photo!!! I miss the 4 seasons, so really enjoy and appreciate any photos especially of the Fall and Winter months. ❤😀😛
Did you know that the White Mountains of Arizona are home to a thriving population of bald eagles? These majestic birds of prey can often be spotted near the cool waters of the Mogollon Rim and in the surrounding forests.
Fun facts about bald eagles:
The White Mountains are one of the few places in the lower 48 states where bald eagles nest and raise their young year-round.
Bald eagles are not actually bald, but have white feathers on their heads that give them their distinctive appearance.
Bald eagles can have a wingspan of up to 7 feet and can soar to altitudes of 10,000 feet or more.
They are opportunistic feeders and will eat a variety of prey, including fish, waterfowl, and small mammals.
If you're in the White Mountains, be sure to keep an eye out for these magnificent birds. And if you're lucky enough to spot one, snap a picture and share it with us! 🦅🏞️ #BaldEagles #azwhitemountains

How many pounds of T-Bone steak would you buy at this price?! Photo shared by Paula Sutter, circa 1964. One commentary has this store across the street from modern day Charlie Clarks. Anyone have any other memories or facts? ... See MoreSee Less
I loved Arch...he would give me boxes of greens for our chickens, he knew how rough we had it...we would find a few potatoes or a nice apple in the box at times...
We use to charge our groceries. Just sign the receipt. Those were the days!
Pinetop Grocery. I remember it with Ward and Mary Coats. Across from Charlie Clark’s. Wooden floors. Across the parking lot was Penrod’s pharmacy. Now, Red Devil
I will take 25lbs and 10 lbs of peaches too
That’s when money carried it weight in gold.
Wow, when it gets to hot, you can always buy a breeze! 😜😂
Across the street Eddie's?

🚂🌲Get out in the woods🐿🌲
There used to be a Train That ran from south of MCNARY to HOLBROOK That
Carried lumber.
The track is no longer there but there is a mound of dirt almost the whole length of the track that makes a pretty great trail.
The part we would like to highlight this week is the stretch from the US 60 to Vernon Mcnary Road.
There’s a lot of antelope, elk, deer, coyotes and other animals.
TThis is about a five mile hike. The starting points are below.
North Point on the US 60
(34.2722213, -109.9151461)
South Point on the Lakeside Vernon Road
(34.2104871, -109.8760509)

Woodland Lemonade Crew 🍋… They are so thankful and overwhelmed by the love and support they’ve received from the community over the past few days! Not only did they meet their sisters goal for her Cheerleading fees, but they surpassed it! They’ve since decided to take the rest of the money and adopt a cat from the humane society! As the parent- I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! I want to mention, these kids did this ALL on their own as I was working most of the day. What they are taking away from this experience is way more than what you see… these kids like most kids, have been robbed of normal human interaction for over a year! Thanks COVID. 😷🙄 They were excited about the money sure, BUT they’ve talked more about the kindness from complete strangers!! They were so happy to hear the stories about “when I was a kid” and “how it used to be” and just the life advice that was given to them about paying it forward! I guarantee they’ve been impacted for life! 💕
Someone should set up a vodka stand next to them
Thank you so much to all those who are supporting these kiddos! They are raising money for their sisters cheerleading fund! We love our Community 🌲🍋
We’re open now until 7 pm!!
